Gut Guntrams is the name of an agricultural and tourism enterprise in Guntrams near Schwarzau am Steinfeld. Farmer and host is Reinhard Adelsberger as the responsible operator of the enterprise, his employee Yannis Brix acts as deputy.

The company has leased 3.6 hectares of farmland in Guntrams and utilises the harvest yields.

The Guntrams estate includes the “Veranda” restaurant, three small nature hotels called “Gartenlofts”, “Villa Tranquillini” and “Flora”, as well as the “Edelmacherei” for the natural processing of agricultural products and a glass house called “Orangerie” with different varieties of citrus fruits. The owner of the land is Dr. Stefan M. Gergely.

Curricula

Stefan M. Gergely, born in 1950, studied chemistry and music. He was a science journalist for profil, ORF, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit, and wrote numerous books, including “Nahrung, Ernährung, Gesundheit” (Food, Nutrition, Health), “Diät – aber wie” (Diet – But How) and “Mikroelektronik” (Microelectronics). In the 1980s he was active in the Codex Commission for Organic Agriculture. From 1990 to 2015, he opened and managed gastronomic businesses and renovated the listed buildings he acquired in the Schlossquadrat in Vienna-Margareten. Since 2016, he has been committed to the development of the Guntrams estate – inherited from his mother – and to nature and species conservation.

 

Reinhard Adelsberger comes from Scheibbs.

He graduated from the Höhere Lehranstalt für Tourismus and also successfully completed training as an animal keeper, skilled agricultural worker and fruit tree keeper.

For more than 20 years he worked as a restaurant manager in pubs and as an animal keeper in the animal hospital Strebersdorf and the ARGE Parrot Protection.

 

Yannis Brix, born in 1990, is Reinhard Adelsberger’s deputy.

He graduated from the hospitality school at Vienna’s Judenplatz, specialising in kitchen management and organisation, patisserie and service. After obtaining his Berufsreifeprüfung, he worked as a commis patissier at Julius Meinl am Graben, Hotel Sofitel Stephansdom, Palais Hansen Kempinski, Gregors Konditorei in Vienna-Margareten and others. He has been working at Gut Guntrams since 2018.

 

Sigrid Adelsberger

Ms Sigrid Adelsberger, also from Scheibbs, studied Technical Chemistry at the Vienna University of Technology, her bachelor’s degree topic was “Evaluation of the use of grape pomace and seeds in cosmetics”. She worked at the Federal Environment Agency in the departments of organic analysis and environmental analysis and chemicals. She is currently studying pharmacy and works in a pharmacy.
